Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" (Matthew 19:14).
As of January 2012, The Faith Formation Commission of St. Jude Catholic Church has been working on an initiative to welcome and invite special need families to participate in the classroom and in parish life while promoting awareness within the parish.
If you have a family member who experiences a disability or know of parishioners with a disability who may need certain accommodations or support to participate in parish life, please call Tammy Stewart at the Faith Formation Office, 317-786-4371.
Some of the accommodations we currently offer for those with special needs are:
Media screens in the church engage children in the Mass
Low gluten hosts are available for people with Celiac Disease
Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) are available in the church for the hearing impaired
A chair lift in the parish center basement
Elevators in the preschool and school buildings
We take communion to our home-bound parishioners who are unable to attend Mass
The order of the Mass picture book available for use in Mass located in the back of church on the windowsill
Would a Picture Missal help your child get more out of the Mass?
Flip books with the order of the Mass in pictures are now available for use during Mass. These booklets can be found on the window sill in the back of church. Please return the booklets to the back of church after Mass. Or you can download and purchase My Picture Missal App from Itunes for your child to follow along on your smartphone.
