Blood Drive
Contact: Mary Ellen Morgan

Each spring and fall, St. Jude hosts a blood drive conducted by the staff of the Central Indiana Regional Blood Center. The blood drive is typically held in the school cafeteria, making it very convenient for parishioners to schedule a donation appointment time and "give the gift of life." Anyone 17 years of age or older, in good health, including many of those who take prescription medications, can safely donate blood every 56 days. In addition to those who can donate blood, volunteers also schedule donation appointments, serve juice and cookies to donors, and help with setup and cleanup. Please watch for announcement in bulletin for dates and times.

The purpose of SVDP is to be of service to the needy without judging those in need. The services offered are meant to fill the gaps that may be left by public assistance. Members of SVDP do not seek recognition for their work, but seek God's recognition in the lives of those served as well as in themselves. This is truly a "working" group of people. Many are needed to assist in the work of SVDP which includes taking calls once a month at your home for the help line, working at the warehouse, working at the food pantry, going out to visit those who have asked for assistance, picking up donated items, helping with special collections at church, and supporting each other and sharing ideas at monthly meetings held the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. This is truly a ministry of service that provides the basic necessities to those most in need.

St Jude Parish has committed to bi-annual Habitat for Humanity spring and fall
builds as Devotions and Lunch sponsors. We provide daily lunches for 2 weeks
at construction sites around the city. This is a ministry of labor and love by building
hope and community, one home at a time. Watch for bulletin announcements for
volunteers needed for builds.
