The Indiana Master Naturalist (IMN) Course

The Indiana Master Naturalist (IMN) course, which is going to be offered at St. Jude for a second time, provides hands-on opportunities for adults to learn from experts in the natural resources field. By attending a series of courses that focuses on our amazing Hoosier natural heritage, you will gain new insights into our natural world. Whether you know nothing or know a fair bit about nature already there will be something for every nature lover.
To become a certified Indiana Master Naturalist, participants attend 80% of 8 classes, pass an open book test, and complete at least 24 hours of volunteer service. The volunteer service will give you a chance to put to use your new-found knowledge, as the volunteer work must benefit the community through working with natural areas (we will probably do a group project for St Jude).
Consider joining the ranks of hundreds of Indiana Master Naturalists and sign up for the 2010 St Jude IMN course.
Our classes will run Monday nights, January 24th- March28th 2011, with some Saturdays in the field (TBA). Monday nights will run 6:30-9:30pm, in the parish center. To find out more and register watch the bulletin.

Couples Enrichment Weekend
Contact: Annette Calloway
Email: acalloway@stjudeindy.org
Married couples promise to be committed in sickness and health. This promise is more than physical, because sickness comes in many different forms. It can be relational, psychological and spiritual. These aspects of our life can also become ill. In the physical sphere, there are many illnesses that can be avoided by tending to our physical needs. We watch our diets, exercise, try to manage stress and get enough sleep. Relationships can be the same. There are many “habits” we can develop to keep our relationships strong and healthy, so that in the difficult times they can ward off illness.
This next January, we are planning a couples (for both married and others in committed relationship) enrichment workshop for all members of our parish to take a look at their relationships. It will take place beginning on Friday evening, January 21st and reconvene on Saturday morning, January 22nd, ending with lunch. The aim of the program is to strengthen your personal bonds and give you skills for managing your lives together.
Even Jesus, at a point in His life, asked His disciples to tell Him who/what others thought of Him. All of us need an opportunity to take a look at ourselves. To ‘see’ where we are in our relationship and ‘focus’ on where we want to go. Watch this web-page or the parish bulletin for information closer to the date.
Parish Mission February 28, March 1, March 2

Fr. Michael Fones, O.P. will be our presenter. Discipleship and the call to conversion are the heart of every parish mission, since everything else flows from them: stewardship, the discernment of gifts and vocation (including personal calls), prayer, and involvement in the local parish. Consequently, all of Fr. Michael’s missions are crafted to have an evangelizing effect on the members of the parish. Using stories from scripture, Jesus’s parables, Paul’s letters, the rich teaching of the Church, and reflections on his own journey of faith and the lives of disciples who have influenced him, Fr. Michael attempts to present Jesus’ invitation to each one of us to become his disciple in ways that are personal, fresh, and sometimes surprisingly amusing.
