TEN WEEK STUDY ON THE BOOK OF JAMES: James is one of the most practical books of the Bible. Like the book of Proverbs, it is a book of wisdom, a collection of teachings on issues faced by ordinary Christians in everyday life. These teachings speak loudly to all those who feel torn between the competing demands of this world and their faith. This study offers "pearls for wise living" by applying the wisdom of James to the present day. For anyone who has struggled to live a truly Christian life, James offers a wealth of practical solutions for handling and even sanctifying everyday circumstances.

When: Tuesday nights or Thursday Mornings, begin Sept 13th at 7pm or Sept 15th at 10:00am
Where: St. Jude Parish Center Cost: $20 book fee

Next Date Night September 10 - Flyer

Building and strengthening marriages begins with husbands and wives making time to be with each other, and having fun together.  In a world full of competing demands for our attention: children, work, friends, etc., time for each other is a rare commodity for most married couples. Yet, without this opportunity for staying connected spouses drift apart and marriages suffer. The strength of marriages is a concern of the Catholic Church because marriage is the heart of the family, and families are schools of love.

Understanding this, St. Jude Couples Enrichment Team is offering Married Couples Date Nights based on the program Six Dates for Catholic Couples.  Each of these evenings is unique so a couple can attend one date or all of the date nights.  The core of the program is watching a video segment that will inspire good conversation between you and your spouse, then spending some time together in conversation using a worksheet.  Some of the dates will include fellowship with the other couples sharing a meal.  Others events will allow the couple to start the date at the parish and then go out on a date using completing the worksheet at their leisure.  Watch the bulletin and this web-site for details.

The six videos inspire spouses to become aware of the gift that they are to each other as husband and wife, and of the preciousness of their relationship. The topics of the six dates are:

1) ONCE UPON A TIMEEach couple’s love story is connected to God’s love story.

2) MARRIAGE IS …What we believe about marriage as Catholics.

3) WHAT KEEPS YOU TOGETHER? What keeps spouses in love is the ability to see God’s image in each other.

4) WHAT ABOUT ME?Learning to love requires overcoming selfishness. God helps us with his graces and teaches us self-giving love.

5) THE BLUEPRINTOF LOVE Christ’s love for the Church is the blueprint for our loving. Learning to love like Christ loves is the source of our happiness.

6) WHERE DO I FIND THE COURAGE? Overcoming selfishness through learningto love is difficult. Prayer is the source of strength in our daily challenges. It opens us up to receive God’s graces.
